VOLUNTEER.
volunteers
It takes all of us working together to make a difference in our community.
Volunteers are the backbone of many of our local organizations! Below
are some examples of how we are weaving volunteers and best practices
into the community."
1-800-Volunteer.Org
This is an online searchable database of volunteer opportunities for
those looking for ways to get involved in the community. We provide the
portal for Isabella County and believe that this application will
increase volunteerism in our community, as well as the capacity for
local
organizations to engage volunteers more effectively.
Referral Services
Individuals and groups of all ages and from all walks of life come to us
to find volunteer opportunities. These volunteers are matched with an
organization or program according to their skills and interests. We
strive to find the right volunteer opportunity for every person!
Week of Caring
Week of Caring is an entire week of volunteering that takes place in
September. It is a community-wide week of service in which specific
community projects are available for volunteers to complete. This week is
also designated to kick-off the United Way campaign.
Volunteer Management Training Series
This is a new series of sessions provided to volunteer coordinators from
local organizations to help them build their capacity for effective
volunteering. The series deals with issues such as volunteer
recruitment, training, and supervising.
Volunteer of the Week
Each week, a special volunteer is selected to have their name and
volunteer work highlighted in an article in the Morning Sun and on the
air at 95.3 WCFX. The selected volunteer also received a special plaque
from JNR Engraving and gift certificates to La Senorita Mexican
Restaurant, Big Apple Bagels, and Isabella County Parks and Recreation.
Recognizing volunteers for their selfless acts encourages
volunteers to stay involved with local programs and can help encourage
others to volunteer as well. > read more
